the cost of living in the city's going up. while san francisco still attracts many young lgbt people, being able to afford living here is getting harder and harder. i like generalize this question on my own, extending it to just about everyone. what can be done to keep this city attractive and affordable to the young and creative? a lot of people are coming here to have alternative lifestyles all over the map. they come here because the city is not necessarily their job. they will come here even without a job. they do not have a lot of money. as an operator, how do you answer this? >> it depends on what you're doing. headline talent is very expensive. you put your budget together and you see which can charge for a ticket. as i have the benefit of the venue over with promoters because i do not need to make money at the door, i can look at something and say -- i will be making this much, but i do not have to. i want to break even at the door. that lets me keep the ticket price down. frequently, and we put that out through facebo

the city of san francisco, and now it is the newest part in the city of san francisco. through our partnership, and because of public investment from the two thousand eight fund, we are celebrating a renewal and an awakening of this park. we have it safer, happier, more joyous. >> 3, 2, 1, [laughter] =--[applause] >> it is a great resource for families, to have fun in the city, recreation. >> this is an amazing park. we have not revitalized it without public and private investment. the critical piece of the process of this renovation was that it was all about the community. we reached out to everyone in this community. we love this park dearly and they all had thoughts and ideas and they wanted to bring their own creativity and their personality to bear on the design. what you see is what the community wanted. these ideas all came from the residents of this community. as a result, there is a sense of ownership, pride and responsibility that goes along with what is going to be an exciting park. arab heritage month celebration. i paid the police department and the city back. we put this together with a group of volunteerses, the original command center. the wonderful volunteers that exist in san francisco. not people advising you but people coming here doing stuff and they represented the great cross section of san francisco. had two retired school teachers who came to this temporary building everyday for five years, and provided administrative assistance. they were wonderful. one of them was mary louise green. dave ebberly -- you haven't heard that name. he was the guy bouncing around and i found out he was the volunteer driver of the emergency vehicle that we had which was parked in a fire house at the other end of the city and get a call at 2:00 o'clock in the morning and get in that vehicle, and i later learned -- i'm sorry dave. i didn't understand at the time. it was manual transmission
